New Face At Boxerwood

Clara Williams, who has worked at Boxerwood since 2009, has left us to pursue a career in non-profit work and art.  She is already sorely missed and will be remembered in the community for her cheerful smile, work in the garden, and willingness to help others.

Boxerwood has been most fortunate to once again find an outstanding individual to join our family to help keep our educational programs and woodland garden growing.  Ben Eland has joined the Boxerwood Staff as our new Garden Worker.  Ben has volunteered for several years  in the Boxerwood education curriculum helping with formal school sessions during the day and after school programs through our partners at the Rockbridge Y.

Ben has decided to increase his involvement with Boxerwood by offering his environmental ethic, knowledge, and skills to keep us on track to meeting our Mission of influencing positive stewards of the Earth.  His past experience in operating construction equipment has already shown him to be our best tractor operator following an orientation with Clara.  He also has a background in carpentry and landscaping that will be of great benefit to our facilities and grounds.

Ben will also continue to support the Boxerwood Education Programming by assisting with teaching one day a week.

If you get a chance, stop by and welcome Ben to Boxerwood.

Want to Share Your Thoughts

For those of you who might be new to following blogs, one of the fun and useful aspects of this information medium is that the public has the opportunity to let their thoughts be heard.  Should you have any input, additional information, or questions you can include them at the end of each post.

Just look at the last line of each story or post and you will see a line that reads

No Comment or a (number of) Comments

Click on this and then you will be presented with a screen where you can share with others your thoughts.

We value your comments and look forward to hearing from our supporters.

A New Way To Support Boxerwood

A new way for supporters to become and renew memberships or make donations to the Boxerwood Nature Center and Woodland Garden has been set up at our online payment site.  You can now establish recurring payments directly from your debit or credit car account that will go to backing of Boxerwood programs and garden.

You can choose an amount that will be charged to your account on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, or annual basis.

As an example, a person could choose to donate $20 a month.  This would add up to a total donation for a year of $240 as a Sustaining membership of Boxerwood.

To access this new service, go to

Boxerwood Website

Once at the website go to the button for On Line Payments in the bottom left corner.  After clicking this button look for the line that reads:

I would like my donation to recur:

You will then see questions to answer to aid you in setting up your donation.

As always, thank you for your interest in and support of Boxerwood.  Without the patronage of our community Boxerwood would not be able to continue to keep its garden and facilities open and provide environmental education programs to school children in the Rockbridge area.
