Jazz in the Garden at Boxerwood (Friday,
May 22)
Jazz
guitarist Vince Lewis and singer Nadine Chase take the stage this Friday May 22 at
Boxerwood from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The Charlottesville jazz duo will perform swing and pop
standards from the big-band era. Their performance is the third in
a series of ten free “Music in the Garden” concerts scheduled for the second
and fourth Fridays of the month through mid-September.
Music
in the Garden features artists from Central Virginia, including many
from the Rockbridge community. Country singer Sarah McDonald kicked off the series in April, followed by
The Fading Point, a student a capella group from SVU. Upcoming June concerts include bluegrass
duo Shester & Datz on the 12th and the blues trio Honest Labor
on the 26th. A full schedule of summer concerts is
available on the Boxerwood website: www.boxerwood.org.
Music-goers should
bring their own picnics, lawn chairs, and blankets. Children are very welcome. The
concerts are free; pass-the-hat proceeds go to the musicians, who all perform
pro bono at Boxerwood.
In the event of rain,
concerts will be canceled. For more information and “iffy” weather updates,
visit Boxerwood on Facebook or the Web (www.boxerwood.org) or call 463-2697.
